Meet Ben Barbic:

California bay born and raised Ben Barbic is a multi-talented, genre-blending singer, songwriter, musician, and producer.

Ben has been an avid music lover since he got his first programmable keyboard at the age of 5 yrs old. By 7 he was already a budding songwriter and wrote his first song. He told us: “It was an ode to Martinelli Apple Juice in those little bottles, which I happen to be drinking at the time. It started with; I found a can of apple juice, all covered with leaves,” (Ben laughs).

That was the beginning of a lifelong passion for music, which he has continually developed, drawing his influences from his emotions, feelings, and life experiences.

His first introduction in the music industry was with hip-hop, but it was reggae that stole his heart. He told us: ” If you had to put me in a scene, it would definitely be reggae. I love the music, culture, and vibe of the thing.”

Although Ben’s core genre is reggae, he skillfully infuses his style with dashes of hip-hop, dancehall, and pop, to create a unique and appealing sound. His versatility and originality have been gaining much attention in the music industry and he just had a guest appearance on the well-known podcast “Moment 2 Moment”. With a carefree energy and an incredibly catchy tune that keeps your body moving and grooving, this song stays with you, enticing you to return for more.

This gentle reminder alerts us to the realisation that time does slip through our fingers, just like sand. When we asked Ben about the inspiration for this song he told us: “we only have so much time to live life. So, live with no regrets and do the things you love. Live Free.”

“Hourglass” with its chilled reggae vibes and pleasing delivery will charm any listener and if you enjoy music from artists such as Collie Buddz and Fat Freddy’s Drop, then Ben Barbic will fit perfectly on your reggae playlist.

I try and give a message to everyone to enjoy life and try to find the best version of themselves. If you wake up every day and say, “This could be the best day of my life”, it sets a certain tone. One More Day (Theme from “the Seven Chambers”) – Ben E. Davis / Explosive Expression of Love & Loss

Meet Ben E. Davis:

London-based, LA-born singer-songwriter Ben E.Davis has just released his newest single, “One More Day”.

Ben first started singing when he was just a young boy. He was inspired by a TV series called Kids Incorporated, about a group of youngsters who were in a band.

Years later, he fulfilled his childhood dream and joined a band called the LA Allstars. They toured the world together performing cover songs for weddings and corporate parties.

Ben has an eclectic style that was greatly influenced by two of the biggest music stars in history, Michael Jackson and Tina Turner. His style of music is definitely within the pop genre but he tells us: “I call my music schizophrenic soulful pop, it mixes genres and reflects my mood at the time I’m writing”.

One More Day:

“One More Day” is a touching and intensely emotive song that was inspired by Ben’s grandma, Dorothy, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

The song opens and we are instantly captivated by a slow, dramatic and expansive soundscape, which is reminiscent of a Celine Dion movie soundtrack. It’s no surprise that this epic track was selected as the theme song for the video game, “The Seven Chambers”. A Nintendo switch video game about a young girl called Elasaid, who falls into a coma and experiences a past life as a Highland Warrior.

Ben sings with intense emotion and his breathy, raspy delivery expresses deep heartache and loss. He has an extraordinary vocal ability that carries immense character and charisma. Listeners are equally charmed and hypnotised by his passionate performance.

This is a slow-tempo track that gradually builds to an explosive chorus. It has all the makings of an unforgettable anthem and listeners won’t be able to resist joining in with the powerful chorus, as Ben sings: “what about me, what about you, what about all that we’ve been through. What do I say to turn the clock back, one more day”.

It’s no surprise that this epic track was selected as the theme song for the video game, “The Seven Chambers”. A Nintendo switch video game about a young girl called Elasaid, who falls into a coma and experiences a past life as a Highland Warrior. Her only escape is to navigate her way to the Seventh Chamber and fight the fallen angel. Take a look at the video game here: https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/the-seven-chambers-switch/

When I Sleep – Betty Boo Banksta / Inspiring Music Video Release

Betty Boo Banksta:

Eclectic singer-songwriter Betty Boo Banksta has just released a captivating new music video for her song, “When I Sleep”.

Banksta has an intense passion for her music and expertly utilises this portal to express herself in a unique and fascinating form.

Her first professional musical encounter came when she was invited to accompany a friend to drop off tracks at the Bobby Brown studio, where Outkast was recording.

Banksta jumped at the chance as she was completely enamoured with André 3000. When she arrived they were listening to Aquemini and asked her opinion. Without hesitation, Banksta announced that it was missing her voice, so the guys invited her to jump on the mic!

Not one to miss out on an opportunity, Banksta tore that mic up and even has a trophy to prove it.

Her background is in hip-hop, but this fascinating woman can delve into any genre you throw at her.

When I Sleep:

The music video “When I Sleep”, displays what a captivating performer Banksta is, both vocally and visually. Here, she showcases her tantalising energy and passion, as well as her unique style.

She delivers a dazzling performance in a strobe-lit studio where she plays the piano and sexily crawls across it. Dreamy, smoke-filled scenes bounce between her on the piano to singing in a microphone booth and performing on a stage.

Her bold style is inspiring and she sports a sweater with a huge eye on the front, suggesting to her viewers that she sleeps with one eye open. Or perhaps this represents her inner eye, which is wide open when she sleeps, seeing into the unconscious realm.

The inspiration for this song came from Banksta’s mother who would always tell her that she sleeps too much. She told us: “this song is about the awakening of the mind, spirit, and soul. There is resting but our consciousness never sleeps. Ever!”.

Banksta had an amazing team behind her for the production of this video, which was directed by the renowned Kevin Garrett and co-produced by the incredible vision of Reginald Dewayne Boyland.

Spirits / Don’t Come to LA – Julianna Joy / Intimate Rawness that Captivates Hearts

Meet Julianna Joy:

Julianna Joy has been an avid music enthusiast since she was 8 yrs old, the year Taylor Swift was introduced into her household. She eagerly began taking guitar and piano lessons as well as joining the school band and choir. Here, she excelled and became student director of the pit in her junior year, as well as student manager of the show choir.

She is a writer at heart, not just in song form, but also poetry, shorts, and scripts. She told us: “I love writing. It’s what makes being in the music business so great – everything is in writing”.

Joy is an absolute lover of music and she has been inspired greatly by 70s and 80s music, particularly Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, and Queen. Her sound has been heavily influenced by this era and her music style fits perfectly into the psychedelic pop wave.

Her newest release out today, “Spirits / Don’t Come to LA”, is a double-sided release telling two stories centered around a former lover.

Spirits:

“Spirits” is a captivatingly emotive song about separating from a lover. Joy sings with a maturity beyond her years which carries a honey-drenched voice expressing deep heartache and loss.

Beautifully expressive lyrics reveal immense rawness and vulnerability, such as: “bury the hatchet and leave it, like I could carry the weight of your secrets. I’l fall out of being your weakness, again. I’ll find something else to believe in, swear I’m never going back to eating”.

The song is carried along by a gentle acoustic guitar soundscape that gives way to an intense rock interlude. Though Joy’s voice stays soft, the music expresses anger and frustration.

Her performance is delightfully hypnotic and many listeners will relate to the heartache expressed in this song.

Don’t Come to LA:

The second song on this release, “Don’t Come to LA”, was written ensuing a nightmare Joy had about her former lover. He wrote a song about her called, “Come to LA”, which confused her as he was with someone else. She feared he wanted to come back into her life and was inspired to reply. Joy told us: “the song came out as a warning more than a sad song”.

In this eloquent and heartfelt response, Joy communicates impressive sensitivity and emotion. Her delicate vocals caress an unforgettable melody that captivates our hearts.

You can hear the warning in her voice as she sings the word “please”. It holds an incredible amount of intensity behind it. A plea of desperation, “please, don’t come to LA”.

The slow tempo dreamy soundscape along with Joy’s breathtaking performance will charm any listener.

Joy’s expressive music and performance will deeply connect with all kinds of music fans and once you listen to her, you will definitely return for more. If you enjoy music from artists such as Zella Day and Lorde, then Julianna Joy will fit perfectly on your psychedelic pop playlist.

What Happened on March 18th in Pop Music History?

Ed Sheeran Reunites With Ghetts On The Album “Conflict Of Interest”

After 10 years since the duet “Drown Me Out”, singer Ed Sheeran has just reunited with Ghetts for a new song on the rapper’s third disc titled “Conflict Of Interest”. The product was released at noon 19/2.

“Conflict Of Interest” is the third studio album by rapper Ghetts, continuing to exploit the more subtle aspects of the male artist’s personality since the project “Ghetto Gospel: The New Testament” was released in 2018. As the title says, all 16 songs of “Conflict Of Interest” revolve around internal conflicts of the male artist himself.

The album “Conflict Of Interest” tells about the inner conflicts of rapper Ghetss himself.

In an interview on the NME news site, Ghetts  said that some of the topics he mentioned on this disc include his personal feelings, suffering, fatherly love, black stories and past stumbles.

The album “Conflict Of Interest” has the participation of many famous British artists such as: Pa Salieu, Stormzy, Giggs, Dave, Skepta, Jaykae, Emeli Sandé, Wretch 32 and Moonchild Sanelly. The most special is the appearance of the vocalist Ed Sheeran with the song “10000 Tears” about the regrets for a lost love. Reportedly, the owner of the hit “Shape Of You” and Ghetts worked together on a dramatic 2011 song titled “Drown Me Out”, on the album “No.” 5 Collaborations Project” by Ed Sheeran.

The album Conflict Of Interest marks the ten-year reunion of Ghetts and Ed Sheeran

Talking about his reunion after a decade with Ed Sheeran, Ghetts revealed that he sent out an invitation to him to feature in the Ballad “10000 Tears” while his colleague was on his way to Japan for his vacation.

As for Ed Sheeran, it seems that the male singer is ready to return after a long hiatus since the success of the album “Divide (÷)” in 2017 and the world tour “Divide Tour”. In his 30th birthday post on February 17, Ed Sheeran suddenly announced that he would release the next album later this year.

Esquire Announces 10 Great Pop Bands Of All Time

Esquire Announces 10 Great Pop Bands Of All Time

Recently, Esquire magazine has compiled the 10 greatest pop bands of all time.

Esquire is an American men’s magazine. In the United States, it has been published by Hearst Corporation since 1986,also has more than 20 international editions. Recently, this prestigious magazine announced the 10 greatest pop bands of all time.

The first one to be mentioned is The Beatles which is understandable. With sales of 600 million copies, The Beatles quickly became a cultural icon. From their high-tempo hits like “I Want to Hold Your Hand” and “Help!,” to ballads like “Yesterday,” it’s hard to hear any opening chords of a Beatles song without imagining the accompaniment of hordes of screaming fans.

BEATLES 1966 Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, John Lennon and George Harrison at Top Of The Pops

“The Supremes” is a convergence group that brings the breakthrough of three female members. They left a mark on the audience’s hearts with hits like “You Can’t Hurry Love”, “Baby Love” and “Stop, In the Name of Love”. Arguably the greatest Motown act in history, boasting the talents of music legends Diana Ross, Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson, and Betty McGlown, The Supremes were a beloved and groundbreaking group for all-women acts—pop, soul, rock and roll, and more. There’s little doubt that you’ve heard their hits like “You Can’t Hurry Love,” “Baby Love,” and “Stop! In the Name of Love.” And, if you’ve heard any of them, there’s also little chance you’ve refrained from dancing along to their catchy harmonies.

“The Beach Boys” founded in 1961, is a band with bold images of dreams from the American suburbs. With Brian Wilson at the helm and his brothers and friends in tow, The Beach Boys hung ten on the American charts for decades, tactfully balancing between their often ultra-digestible, nearly commercial tone and more daring, experimental efforts. Up to now, The Beach Boys has repeatedly reached the top 10 of the US charts.

Other groups selected in the list include: ABBA, The Temptations, Sly and the Family Stone, Destiny’s Child, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, BTS. BTS is arguably one of the vanguard acts to pioneer K-Pop’s immeasurable worldwide success. Their hit series such as: “Dynamite”, “Life Goes On” are soulful, opening the perfect blend of pop, hip-hop, disco and R&B. This is also the male group with the most numerous and passionate fans at the moment.
